2025 Fall Family Golf Program

Lexington County Recreation Commission Family Golf Program
The Family Golf Program will be modeled more after T-ball/Coaches Pitch where the emphasis is placed on having fun learning and discovering how to play the game while at the same time building and developing skills.

The Lexington County Recreation Commission Family Golf Program is a weekly program designed for families with children ages 4-12, who are beginners or brand new to the game. Ideally this program will be scheduled for 6 weeks with the first 4 weeks taking place Tsunami Bar Sports. The final 2 weeks will take place at a local golf course; LinRick Golf Course.

In weeks 1-4, children and their families will learn and practice the skills of building a golf swing. This will be led by George Bryan III and will also include elements of golf fitness and impact conditioning (golf-specific exercises designed to make the critical components of the golf swing easier to learn).

The Middle Phase (Weeks 4-6) will feature a “Transfer Initiative” of or modified version of on-course play. Using available space on an athletic field, children and their families will practice their golf swing skills by playing on a “Transfer “ or modified golf course, set up by George, with modified flight golf balls. This portion of the program is designed to facilitate a smoother transition of skills from practice to play while also introducing key elements of playing golf before engaging in regulation or real golf. Included in these key elements of play are: safety, playing formats, & etiquette.

The on-course portion of this program will feature an a special “GGN team golf” developmentally friendly format that serves as the medium for learning through play. Children will be assigned to teams based on family, age, and size. Parents, grandparents, or other adult family members will serve as their caddies, guides, coaches and fans. When the group is ready for actual play, each team will play from modified distances and will utilize multiple team-based playing formats with one adult per child serving as their caddie.

2025 Fall Family Advanced Golf Program 2

We are excited to offer a Next Step for our Golf Family Junior program. Our Level II Class will spend the majority of the class focusing on the principles of playing the game. This program's focus and emphasis will be on the skills most relevant to playing on the course. It is for this reason, the prerequisite for this class is;
•LCRAC Family Junior Class
•Previous participation in “LCRAC Winter Tour”
•Each family member participant must have “course experience.” In other words, there cannot be a family member in this class who has no golf experience.
Weeks 1 & 2 will be “field & course orientation.”
Weeks 3 & 4 will be “Course exercises & games”
Final two weeks “Family Play Formats.”
These on-course learning formats are designed to be fun while offering developmental benefits!
There will be fundamental skill building included in the education. Golf Impact Conditioning swing training will support the Family Junior playing initiative and “GGN Home Golf Training” will be part of the curriculum.
The program is led by George Bryan and his staff.

Winter Youth Golf Tour

Lexington County Recreation and Aging Commission
presents
The Winter Youth Golf Tour
December 7, 2025 - February 22, 2026
Boys and Girls ~ Ages 4 thru 18

in association with
Grow Golf Now
conducted by
George Bryan Golf Academy

The objective of The Winter Youth Golf Tour is to
introduce and develop the game while on the course.
Also, we want to eliminate any barriers and/or
obstacles that are associated with golf, thereby
making it more available and appealing to our youngsters.

Family members are urged to join us on Sunday
afternoons. We will need two volunteers per group
each Sunday to walk with the players to assist in
enforcing safety, accurate score keeping, and proper
pace.

Parents are urged to caddie and be supportive fans.
During play, lessons on swing mechanics are
discouraged. Brush up on the caddie skills!

Course rules, etiquette, and safety will be stressed
with a big emphasis placed on FUN while playing golf.
