Rec Program Director Announcement

Southern Soccer Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Sterling Nabours as Senior Recreational Program Director working alongside SSA Kennesaw's Recreational Program Director Jack Coulton. Sterling will be taking over the role formerly occupied by Dean Gilewicz with Dean moving into a part-time role at the club to allow him to pursue other career interests. Southern Soccer Academy would like to place on record our appreciation of Dean’s hard work and valuable input during his time at the club, and extend a welcome to Sterling as he brings the wealth of his coaching and administrative experience to us from our affiliate in Nashville, TN. Sterling Nabours: "I am very excited to be joining Southern Soccer Academy here in Atlanta. I have been involved with SSA as the Executive Director and Coaching Director of the affiliate program in Nashville, TN and I am genuinely looking forward to working with and being a part of the quality staff here at SSA. I have a passion for teaching soccer to players of all ages and skill levels and I hope to use my background to support not only player development at the club, but also to help build the skills of our Recreational coaches across the club as a whole." Dean Gilewicz: "Although it has been a tough decision, I have decided to pursue a career in web development and will be stepping down from my full-time role at the club. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all involved at Southern Soccer Academy for their support and for giving me the opportunity to impact player development over the last several years. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the players, parents, and coaches at SSA, and I am truly grateful for the many wonderful experiences I’ve had with the club. I will continue to be involved at SSA but in a part-time capacity with the Select program, so I look forward to seeing you out on the fields, and wish you all the very best!" Sterling Nabours Bio: Sterling has worked with players from the ages of 3-24 as a youth club recreational director and coach, a coach of select teams, a high school coach, and as a college coach at Creighton, Bellevue, Belmont, and Vanderbilt universities. During his eight years with the Harpeth program in Nashville, Sterling worked with over 2000 recreational players and oversaw growth in the Select program from 8 teams to 35 teams. Sterling has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sports Management with an emphasis in Exercise Science and holds a USSF B license and an NSCAA Premier license. Sterling was recently selected to begin teaching NSCAA coaching courses as an NSCAA staff coach and was a presenter of an ‘Applied Mental Conditioning’ seminar at the 2015 NSCAA National Convention.
